The Glenfiddich distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant in Dufftown, at the heart of Speyside. Still owned and operated by the Grant family, it remains one of the few truly independent distilleries in Scotland. Glenfiddich, meaning “Valley of the Deer” in Gaelic, draws its pure water from the nearby Robbie Dhu springs — the same source used since its founding. Known for its pioneering spirit, Glenfiddich was one of the first distilleries to bottle and promote single malt whisky internationally, helping to establish the global reputation of Scotch as a premium spirit.
