Regular price £17.95

An elegant and aromatic Beaujolais with vibrant red berry fruit, silky texture, and delicate floral character. Fresh, refined, and beautifully expressive.

From a historic Burgundy house with over 145 years of heritage and expertise. Crafted by Maison Antonin Rodet, founded in 1875 by Antoine “Antonin” Rodet in Mercurey, this house quickly garnered a reputation as a major Burgundy négociant and winegrower.

Made exclusively from the Gamay grape using semi-carbonic maceration, a method that highlights fruit purity and produces soft tannins with vivid aromatics. Sourced from Fleurie, the most perfumed of the Beaujolais crus, known for pink granite soils that impart elegance and minerality.

The palate reveals juicy red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry layered with subtle floral notes and hints of delicate spice. The fruit remains fresh and vibrant through a smooth, refreshing finish.

This wine exemplifies Fleurie’s signature style: elegant, floral, and balanced, ideal for both novice and seasoned wine lovers. Excellent value for Cru-level Beaujolais quality.

Description

Antonin Rodet Fleurie 2022 comes from Fleurie, one of the ten crus of Beaujolais in eastern France. Often referred to as the “Queen of Beaujolais,” Fleurie is known for producing the most elegant and perfumed expressions of the region’s wines. The vineyards are planted on granite-rich soils that help create wines with vibrant fruit, finesse, and aromatic complexity.

The wine is made from Gamay, the traditional grape of Beaujolais. Gamay thrives in the region’s granite soils, producing wines with bright red fruit character, lively acidity, and soft tannins. Fleurie in particular is celebrated for its floral aromatics and refined structure compared to some of the more robust crus.

Antonin Rodet, a respected Burgundy-based producer founded in the 19th century, brings Burgundian precision to the winemaking process. Careful fermentation and gentle extraction help preserve the delicate aromatics and silky texture that define classic Fleurie.

Style

A dry, light- to medium-bodied red that focuses on elegance, freshness, and aromatic lift. It has very soft tannins and bright acidity, making it smooth and easy to drink while still maintaining structure.

The style is graceful and perfumed rather than powerful. Compared to heavier reds, it feels light on its feet, with a silky mouthfeel and lively fruit character. This makes it particularly versatile at the table and enjoyable slightly chilled.
