Benziger Chardonnay 2022
A rounded yet balanced Chardonnay with ripe orchard fruit, citrus, and subtle oak. Smooth, food-friendly, and comfortably polished.
The Benziger Family Winery has built its reputation on crafting wines that reflect both the purity of California fruit and a deep respect for the land. Farmed with a commitment to sustainability and biodynamics, their wines capture the essence of Sonoma’s cool-climate vineyards.
The 2022 Benziger Chardonnay is a bright yet balanced expression of the North Coast. Bursting with fresh citrus, green apple, and pear, it reveals layers of apricot, subtle tropical fruit, and a touch of creamy vanilla from gentle oak influence. Medium-bodied with lively acidity and a smooth, polished texture, it finishes clean and refreshing.
Versatile at the table, this Chardonnay pairs beautifully with seafood, roast chicken, creamy pastas, or simple seasonal vegetables. More than a classic California white, it embodies Benziger’s philosophy of harmony between vineyard, nature, and winemaking tradition.
Benziger Chardonnay comes from Sonoma County fruit and is made in the broad, polished California style, but with a little more composure than heavily buttery examples. Sonoma Chardonnay can deliver plenty of ripe fruit and texture, but the better bottles preserve enough acidity to stop the wine from becoming clumsy, and that is the strength here.
Benziger’s winemaking tends to favour accessibility and balance, so while there is a clear sense of oak and softness, the wine still feels proportionate. It offers more generosity than a mineral-driven Chardonnay from cooler regions, but remains controlled enough to pair well with food.
A dry, medium-bodied white with ripe fruit, gentle oak influence, and a smooth, rounded palate. It has more weight than crisp unoaked Chardonnay, but enough freshness to stay balanced.
