Overview & Distillery

Smooth, complex, and proudly Irish, Bertha’s Revenge Small Batch Irish Milk Gin is a truly unique craft spirit made from whey alcohol — a byproduct of Irish dairy farming. Named after “Big Bertha”, the world’s oldest cow (48 years old), this gin is a celebration of both Irish heritage and sustainable innovation.

Distilled in small batches at Ballyvolane House Distillery in County Cork, Bertha’s Revenge combines a milk-based spirit with a carefully curated mix of 18 botanicals to produce a gin that’s creamy, aromatic, and beautifully balanced. Bottled at 42% ABV, it delivers a rich texture, classic juniper structure, and subtle spice — a distinctive expression of Irish craftmanship and creativity.

Founded in 2015 by Justin Green and Antony Jackson, the Ballyvolane House Spirits Company operates from a historic Georgian estate in County Cork. The distillery was built on the principles of sustainability and respect for nature, using locally sourced whey spirit derived from Irish milk — an environmentally conscious base that sets Bertha’s Revenge apart from grain-based gins.

The spirit takes its name from Big Bertha, a famous cow from County Kerry who lived to the remarkable age of 48, symbolising endurance and Irish charm. The gin’s production remains hands-on and small-scale, with every batch distilled, bottled, and labelled by hand.

Bertha’s Revenge represents a perfect fusion of Irish farming heritage, distilling tradition, and modern craft ingenuity.
