Aged for a minimum of seven years and bottled at natural cask strength, this vibrant expression showcases the purest form of Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey — powerful, complex, and unmistakably Irish.

Triple-distilled at the Midleton Distillery, Blue Spot is matured in a carefully balanced combination of bourbon, sherry, and Madeira wine casks, creating a rich tapestry of flavour. On the nose, it bursts with orchard and tropical fruits, vanilla, and baking spice, while the palate delivers waves of honeyed sweetness, malt warmth, and a lively Madeira richness. The finish is long, warming, and deeply satisfying — a perfect harmony of strength and finesse.

Originally born from the Mitchell family’s 19th-century tradition of marking whiskey casks with coloured “spots” to indicate age and style, Blue Spot proudly continues this heritage into the modern era. Powerful yet refined, it stands as a testament to Ireland’s whiskey-making mastery - a spirited expression of craftsmanship, history, and character.

Overview & Distillery

Blue Spot 7 Year Old Cask Strength revives one of Ireland’s most historic whiskey traditions — the “Spot Whiskey” range created by Mitchell & Son, Dublin’s legendary wine and spirits merchant. Matured for a minimum of seven years and bottled at natural cask strength, Blue Spot showcases the true vibrancy and power of the Single Pot Still style. Crafted from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple-distilled at the Midleton Distillery, it combines the depth of bourbon and sherry cask ageing with the exotic richness of Madeira wine casks.

The result is a whiskey of remarkable balance and intensity: bursting with fruit, spice, and oak character while retaining the creamy smoothness and elegance that define the Spot range. Bold and complex yet harmoniously rounded, Blue Spot embodies the perfect marriage of heritage and innovation — a vibrant expression of Ireland’s whiskey renaissance.

Produced at the renowned Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Blue Spot carries forward a lineage that dates back to the late 1800s, when Mitchell & Son began marking barrels with coloured spots to identify their age and character. The blue mark indicated a whiskey aged for around seven years — bright, youthful, and full of energy.

Today, under the guardianship of Irish Distillers, the Spot whiskeys continue to honour that legacy of quality and craft. Each expression in the
