Regular price £15.95

A rich and polished Right Bank Bordeaux with ripe dark fruit, velvety texture, and modern appeal. Smooth, expressive, and highly approachable.

Crafted by renowned winemaker Jean-Philippe Janoueix, Château Croix Mouton 2020 is a plush and modern Bordeaux Supérieur that overdelivers in charm and value.

This Merlot-dominant red opens with ripe aromas of plum, black cherry, and cassis, accented by notes of cocoa, soft spice, and a hint of violet.

On the palate, it’s smooth and medium-bodied, with velvety tannins and a generous core of juicy dark fruit. A touch of oak adds gentle richness without overpowering the wine’s natural freshness and purity.

Elegant yet easygoing, it’s the perfect red for everyday drinking - delicious with grilled meats, hearty pastas, or a simple cheeseboard.

Description

Château Croix Mouton 2020 comes from the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation on the Right Bank, just east of Bordeaux city. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils, which are particularly well suited to Merlot, allowing the grape to develop both richness and freshness.

The wine is predominantly Merlot, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon adding structure and aromatic lift. The 2020 vintage in Bordeaux is widely regarded as excellent, producing wines with concentration, ripeness, and balance.

The estate is run by Jean-Philippe Janoueix, a well-known Right Bank producer associated with several respected properties. His approach focuses on ripe fruit, careful extraction, and modern winemaking techniques, resulting in wines that are polished, expressive, and consistent.
