Description

Château d’Orignac Pineau des Charentes NV is a classic fortified wine from the historic Pineau des Charentes appellation in western France. Produced by blending fresh grape must with Cognac eau-de-vie and then aging in oak, Pineau occupies a unique position between wine and spirit, offering both freshness and depth.

Crafted from traditional regional grape varieties - Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon - the must is fortified before fermentation is complete, preserving natural grape sweetness. Extended maturation in oak barrels allows the components to integrate, developing complexity while maintaining vibrancy.

Produced by Château d’Orignac, an estate located in the Cognac region, this Pineau reflects a long-standing tradition of craftsmanship. The house is known for producing both Cognac and Pineau, ensuring expertise in distillation and aging techniques that define the category.

Style

A fortified French wine made by blending grape must with Cognac spirit, resulting in a smooth, sweet style with honeyed fruit, nuts, and warming richness. It sits stylistically between dessert wine and fortified spirit.

In simple terms: a mellow and luxurious fortified wine — sweet, nutty, and ideal for sipping slowly after dinner.
