Château de Francs “Les Cerisiers” 2022

The estate sits on elevated limestone and clay-limestone soils similar to those found in neighbouring Saint-Émilion. These soils provide excellent drainage while preserving freshness and mineral character, allowing the vineyards to produce wines of remarkable balance and structure despite the region’s warmer growing conditions.

The vineyards are planted predominantly to Merlot, supported by smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc. This classic Right Bank blend produces wines that combine ripe fruit generosity with freshness, aromatic complexity, and supple tannic structure.

The 2022 Bordeaux vintage was exceptional throughout the region and particularly successful on the Right Bank. Despite periods of intense summer heat and drought, the best estates achieved extraordinary fruit concentration while maintaining freshness and balance. Château de Francs excelled in these conditions, producing a wine with impressive richness, ripe tannins, and remarkable purity of fruit.

“Les Cerisiers” takes its name from one of the estate’s vineyard parcels and represents a modern expression of Bordeaux that remains firmly rooted in its terroir. Careful vinification and measured oak ageing allow the fruit to remain at the forefront while adding texture, complexity, and ageing potential.

Château de Francs “Les Cerisiers” 2022 is a dry, medium- to full-bodied Bordeaux with ripe black fruit, silky tannins, and excellent freshness. The warmth of the vintage provides generosity and concentration, while the limestone soils preserve balance and lift.

Unlike more structured Left Bank Bordeaux, the emphasis here is on plush fruit, texture, and approachability. The Merlot-driven blend gives the wine a softer and more generous personality while retaining enough structure for medium-term ageing.
