Overview & Distillery

Complex, elegant, and pioneering, Citadelle Réserve Gin was the first aged gin to emerge from France and remains one of the most sophisticated examples of the style. Produced by Maison Ferrand in Cognac, it redefines classic gin through the influence of oak, blending craftsmanship from both gin distillation and cognac maturation.

Bottled at 45.2% ABV, Citadelle Réserve balances juniper purity with a tapestry of spice, fruit, and wood tones. Its unique resting process — aging in five different wood types before marrying in an egg-shaped oak vat — gives it remarkable smoothness, depth, and aromatic complexity.

Citadelle Gin is produced at Château de Bonbonnet, the home of Maison Ferrand, renowned for its expertise in Cognac and fine spirits. Founded by Alexandre Gabriel, Maison Ferrand revived the historic Citadelle name (originally a royal distillery established in 1775 in Dunkirk) to create an authentic French gin that honours both tradition and innovation.

The Réserve edition, introduced in 2008, was the world’s first regularly produced barrel-aged gin and has evolved into a refined expression of French artistry — combining meticulous botanical balance with the savoir-faire of Cognac cask maturation.
