A refined expression of Southern Rhône terroir, Closerie de Vaudieu 2023 offers all the hallmark richness and aromatic complexity of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but with a modern, polished touch. Juicy, spice-tinged fruit, smooth tannins, and subtle herbal lift make this an approachable yet authentic red from one of the region’s most respected estates.
From a Historic Rhône Estate

This wine comes from the iconic Château de Vaudieu, a historic 18th-century estate established in 1767. Located in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vaudieu is renowned for its diverse terroir and meticulous vineyard management. Under the guidance of the Bréchet family, the château has undergone a quality-driven revival, combining traditional Rhône sensibilities with a focus on freshness and balance.

The “Closerie” cuvée represents the more immediate, fruit-driven style of the estate - crafted from younger vines and aged in neutral vessels to showcase purity and drinkability without compromising complexity.

Whether paired with hearty meals or enjoyed on its own, it’s a compelling choice for Rhône lovers and newcomers alike.

Description

Closerie de Vaudieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape comes from one of the most prestigious appellations in the Southern Rhône Valley. The region is known for its warm climate, rounded galets roulés (large pebbles), and diverse soils, all of which contribute to wines of depth, ripeness, and complexity.

This wine is typically based on Grenache, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre, the classic blend of the region. Grenache provides richness and ripe fruit, Syrah adds structure and spice, while Mourvèdre contributes depth and savoury character. The 2023 vintage delivered excellent ripeness and concentration, resulting in a wine with both power and balance.

Closerie de Vaudieu is the second wine of Château de Vaudieu, a historic estate with vineyards across some of the appellation’s most respected sites. The wine is crafted to offer an accessible yet authentic expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, combining regional typicity with a more approachable structure in its youth.
