Col Solare 1996 – Columbia Valley
A mature example from one of Washington State’s most recognised premium wine projects, the 1996 Col Solare offers a rare opportunity to acquire an early vintage from this joint venture between Chateau Ste. Michelle and Marchesi Antinori. Produced in limited quantities, wines from this period are now increasingly difficult to source.
Excellent bottle condition and capsule; fill level in neck. Bottle paint/label slightly worn off in places. Provenance from a well-maintained private cellar.
Col Solare was established as a collaboration between Chateau Ste. Michelle and Marchesi Antinori, bringing together New World fruit with Old World winemaking expertise. The winery focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends from Red Mountain and surrounding areas, producing structured wines designed for ageing.
The 1996 vintage in Washington State produced structured wines with good ageing potential. With nearly three decades of bottle age, this wine is now fully mature and best suited for immediate consumption.
Formal published scores for this early vintage are limited. Col Solare wines from this period were generally well regarded for their structure and ageing potential.
Sourced from a private cellar and stored under appropriate conditions, supporting the wine’s long-term development.
Early vintages of Col Solare are relatively uncommon on the market and appeal to collectors of mature New World wines. While not widely traded, these bottles offer historical interest as part of one of Washington State’s flagship wine projects.
