Château Montrose is one of the leading estates of Saint-Estèphe and was classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification. Its vineyard occupies a prized position overlooking the Gironde estuary, producing Cabernet Sauvignon-led wines renowned for their structure, longevity and ability to develop over many decades.
The exceptionally hot and dry 2003 growing season produced one of the landmark vintages of Château Montrose. The estate's terroir retained sufficient freshness through the heat, resulting in a powerful, concentrated wine with considerable structure and ageing potential.
The château itself describes 2003 as a historic success for Montrose.
