Description

The Coteaux Bourguignons appellation was created to allow greater flexibility in grape varieties than traditional Bourgogne Rouge. In this case, the wine combines Pinot Noir and Gamay, a blend that has deep historical roots in Burgundy and was common throughout the region long before modern appellation regulations were introduced.

The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was cooler and more traditional in character, producing wines with bright acidity, moderate alcohol levels, and excellent aromatic freshness. These conditions particularly suited lighter-bodied red wines, allowing both Pinot Noir and Gamay to express their vibrant fruit profiles while retaining energy and precision.

Pinot Noir contributes elegance, floral aromatics, and silky texture, while Gamay brings juicy berry fruit and youthful vibrancy. Together they create a wine that is immediately appealing yet still distinctly Burgundian in character.

Style

A dry, light- to medium-bodied red with bright red fruit, lively acidity, and soft, silky tannins. The blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay creates a wine that is fresher and more vibrant than many traditional Bourgogne Rouge bottlings, while still retaining Burgundian elegance.

The cooler 2021 vintage enhances freshness and aromatic lift, making the wine feel energetic and highly food-friendly. There is very little emphasis on oak or power; instead, the focus is on purity, balance, and drinkability.

In simple terms: a fresh and charming Burgundy red — juicy, silky, and full of bright berry fruit, offering all the appeal of Pinot Noir with an extra layer of vibrancy from Gamay.
