Torre 'Orientali' Pinot Grigio 2023
A crisp and elegant Pinot Grigio with bright orchard fruit, citrus lift, and refreshing minerality. Clean, vibrant, and effortlessly drinkable.
From the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC in northeastern Italy, produced by the esteemed Torre Rosazza estate. This wine exemplifies the depth and character achievable with Pinot Grigio cultivated in the region's unique terroir.
The vineyard is located at Manzano Hills within the Friuli Colli Orientali appellation
Torrero Sazza, situated at altitudes between 130-170 meters above sea level on terraced hillsides composed of "Ponca," a sedimentary formation of clayey marl and sandstone. This soil imparts distinctive minerality and complexity to the wine.
The palate opens with notes of green apple, ripe pear, and lemon zest. Hints of white peach and delicate floral tones add aromatic lift, while a subtle mineral edge provides focus and structure. The finish is clean, bright, and refreshing with lingering citrus and orchard fruit.
This Pinot Grigio is elegant, well-balanced, and textural, offering more depth and nuance than standard styles. It’s a great example of how Friuli’s terroir can elevate Pinot Grigio into something fresh yet serious, with both finesse and food-pairing versatility.
Torre “Orientali” Pinot Grigio originates from Friuli-Venezia Giulia in north-eastern Italy, one of the country’s most respected regions for white wine production. The hills of the Colli Orientali area benefit from a unique combination of Alpine protection and Adriatic breezes, creating an ideal climate for preserving freshness while allowing full flavour development.
This wine is made from Pinot Grigio, a variety that performs exceptionally well in Friuli’s cool, ventilated vineyards. Here, the grape develops vibrant acidity, delicate aromatics, and refined structure. The region is particularly known for producing Pinot Grigio with more depth and character compared to lighter, neutral styles found elsewhere.
Produced by Torre Rosazza, a historic estate with hillside vineyards in the Colli Orientali zone, the “Orientali” range highlights the purity and typicity of the region. Careful temperature-controlled fermentation preserves aromatic clarity, while time on fine lees enhances texture and balance without compromising freshness.
