Finca Museum Reserva 2020 Magnum
A bold and structured Reserva presented in magnum, offering depth, concentration, and enhanced aging potential. Powerful, polished, and ideal for cellaring or special occasions.
From the Cigales region in Castilla y León, Spain, crafted exclusively from Tempranillo grapes sourced from dry-farmed bush vines over 70 years old. These vines, planted at an altitude of 750 meters, yield low quantities of intensely flavoured grapes, resulting in a wine of remarkable concentration and complexity.
An intense yet refined expression of Tempranillo, balancing ripe fruit, spice, and minerality with well-integrated oak aging. Ideal for both immediate enjoyment and aging over the next 5–10 years.
Finca Museum Reserva 2020 Magnum is a commanding expression of Spain’s Cigales DO, a historic region increasingly recognised for serious, age-worthy Tempranillo wines. The 2020 vintage delivered ripe, concentrated fruit balanced by natural acidity, well suited to extended maturation.
Crafted predominantly from old-vine Tempranillo (Tinto Fino), sourced from low-yielding vineyards rooted in poor, well-draining soils, the wine combines power with structure. Extended oak aging refines the tannins and adds layers of complexity while preserving varietal character.
Produced by Bodegas Finca Museum, a winery dedicated to showcasing historic Tempranillo vineyards, this Reserva reflects both vineyard heritage and careful barrel management. The magnum format (1.5L) allows the wine to mature more slowly and evenly, enhancing longevity and preserving freshness over time.
A full-bodied Tempranillo from Cigales with concentrated black fruit, cocoa, spice, and polished oak complexity from extended ageing. The wine combines Spanish richness and structure with refined tannins and enough freshness to keep the palate balanced rather than heavy.
In simple terms: a bold and polished Spanish Reserva — rich, dark-fruited, and ideal for customers who enjoy powerful reds with smooth oak integration.
- Aromas: Intense notes of ripe red and black fruits (blackcurrant, cranberry, red berries); Hints of salty liquorice, ginger, and exotic spices; Subtle touches of roasted coffee, vanilla, and toasty oak from barrel aging; and Mineral nuances reflecting the terroir.
- Palate: Rich, powerful, and velvety with well-integrated tannins, Vibrant acidity that enhances freshness and balance
- Finish: A long, persistent finish with flavors of roasted hazelnut, minerals, and refined oak
- Prime Rib or Côte de Boeuf – The wine’s firm tannins and concentration stand up beautifully to richly marbled cuts, while the fat softens the structure and amplifies depth.
- Slow-Roasted Lamb Shoulder – Herbal and savoury notes in the dish echo the wine’s oak complexity and old-vine intensity.
- Braised Short Ribs or Oxtail – Long-cooked, gelatin-rich dishes complement the Reserva’s layered structure and integrated spice.
- Charcoal-Grilled Pork or Iberian Presa – Smoky flavours align with the wine’s toasted oak nuances and ripe fruit core.
- Venison or Game Stews – The wine’s bold profile and balanced acidity match the intensity and richness of game meats.
- Aged Manchego or Hard Sheep’s Cheese – Nutty, savoury cheeses enhance the fruit while harmonising with the wine’s tannic backbone.
- Serve at 16–18°C to allow the wine’s depth and structure to fully express themselves.
- Given the magnum format and slower maturation, a decant of 60–90 minutes is recommended to properly open the aromatics and soften the tannins.
- Use a large Bordeaux-style glass to maximise aeration and showcase its layered complexity.
- Magnum bottles evolve more gradually, offering extended aging potential. This vintage will continue to develop beautifully over the coming years if stored in cool, stable cellar conditions.
