Crafted by the innovative team at Fairview Winery in Paarl, the Goats do Roam Red is a playful nod to the great blends of the Southern Rhône - but with a distinctly South African flair. Drawing from Fairview’s diverse vineyards across the Western Cape, this 2023 vintage combines Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Cinsault, Tempranillo, and Durif to create a bold, juicy, and approachable red.
Brimming with flavours of ripe red berries, plum, and gentle spice, it delivers a smooth, medium to full-bodied palate with soft tannins and a lively, food-friendly finish. The wine captures both the Mediterranean spirit and the warmth of the Cape, all wrapped in Fairview’s signature style - quality, character, and a touch of irreverent charm.

South Africa’s Mediterranean climate and flexible blending culture make this kind of red particularly effective: ripe fruit, enough spice to give interest, and a texture soft enough to suit a wide range of drinkers.
This is not the most structured or serious wine in the Cape category, and it is not trying to be. Instead, it aims to offer a broad, generous red profile with enough regional character and savoury edge to feel more engaging than anonymous supermarket blends.
