Green Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey

Regular price £49.95

A true classic of Irish whiskey heritage, Green Spot is one of the few remaining single pot still whiskeys still produced today - a style uniquely Irish and celebrated for its creamy texture, fruit-rich palate, and gentle spice.

Crafted in small batches at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, this exceptional whiskey is triple-distilled from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, then matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks for perfect balance.

On the nose, it offers fresh aromas of green apple, pear, and vanilla, leading to a smooth, creamy palate of honey, malt, and soft spice. The finish is elegant and lingering, with hints of oak, citrus, and sweetness. Bright, refined, and unmistakably Irish, Green Spot captures the harmony of fruit, grain, and oak that defines the single pot still style.

Originally created in the 1800s by Mitchell & Son, Dublin’s historic wine and spirits merchant, Green Spot continues to embody over a century of craftsmanship and authenticity. Produced at Midleton Distillery, home to Ireland’s most renowned whiskeys, it remains a benchmark of quality - a timeless expression of Irish tradition, made with care and character.

Overview & Distillery

Green Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is one of Ireland’s most iconic and historically significant whiskeys — a beautifully balanced expression that captures the essence of traditional Irish whiskey-making. Crafted at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork and bottled exclusively for Mitchell & Son, Dublin’s renowned wine and spirits merchant, it represents a rare example of Ireland’s signature single pot still style.

Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, triple-distilled for exceptional smoothness, and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, Green Spot delivers vibrant fruit, spice, and creamy malt character. Its fresh, orchard-led profile and silky texture make it both approachable and complex — a whiskey equally suited to newcomers and connoisseurs alike.

The Mitchell family began trading in Dublin in 1805, and by the 1880s they were sending empty wine casks to the Jameson Distillery to be filled with whiskey — marking the beginning of the “Spot Whiskey” tradition. Each variant was marked with a coloured spot to indicate its age and style, with Green Spot denoting one of the younger and most vibrant expressions.

Today, production continues at the Midleton Distillery, home to some of Ireland’s finest whiskeys, including Redbreast and Powers. Green Spot remains one of the few surviving examples of the pure pot still tradition — a whiskey of heritage, craftsmanship, and unmistakable Irish character. Its combination of freshness, spice, and creamy malt richness has earned it international acclaim as a benchmark for quality in Irish whiskey.
