Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2024
A benchmark Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with grapefruit, passionfruit, herbs, and intense aromatic lift. Vibrant, polished, and unmistakably regional.
The Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a benchmark expression of Marlborough’s most iconic grape, crafted by celebrated winemaker Kevin Judd, the founding winemaker of Cloudy Bay and the visionary behind Greywacke. Named after the region’s distinctive bedrock, this wine reflects both the purity of Marlborough’s terroir and Judd’s talent for combining vibrancy with refinement.
Sourced from carefully selected vineyards in the Southern Valleys and Wairau Plains, the 2024 vintage showcases the brilliance of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in a year that delivered excellent fruit concentration. The nose is alive with honeydew melon, pineapple, lime zest, and passionfruit, lifted by notes of orange blossom, elderflower, and fresh herbs. On the palate, juicy citrus and tropical flavours are underscored by subtle mineral and herbal nuances, carried on a lively backbone of racy acidity. A lightly textured mid-palate adds depth, while the finish is long, crisp, and refreshingly mineral.
This is a Sauvignon Blanc of both immediacy and finesse – bursting with flavour yet structured with precision. While delicious now in its vibrant youth, it will continue to evolve over the next 3–5 years, developing greater savoury complexity and a touch of honeyed richness.
Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is one of the clearest benchmark expressions of premium Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Kevin Judd’s wines are widely admired because they capture everything people love about the region — vivid aromatics, citrus precision, tropical lift, and freshness — while retaining enough shape and refinement to feel a level above simple category stereotypes.
Marlborough’s cool nights and sunny days make it ideal for Sauvignon Blanc, giving wines that combine pungent aromatics with real fruit purity. Greywacke sits at the polished end of that spectrum: expressive and unmistakable, but not crude or excessively sharp.
A dry, light- to medium-bodied white with vivid aromatics, crisp acidity, and a highly expressive Marlborough profile. It is intense, but also polished and proportionate.
