Laroche Chablis “Saint Martin” 2024
A crisp and mineral-driven Chablis with bright citrus, green apple, and classic flinty freshness. Pure, elegant, and beautifully balanced.
Founded in the mid-19th century, Domaine Laroche is a pioneering family-owned estate in Chablis, with vineyards held since 1850 and the first vintage produced around 1860. The estate, known for high-quality Chablis, made waves as the first French producer to adopt screwcap closures across its range in the 2000s, emphasizing freshness and consistency
“Saint Martin” is the flagship Chablis cuvée, crafted from select plots across Laroche’s 60 hectares of Chablis appellation vineyards planted on Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in fossilized seashells.
The palate reveals lemon zest, green apple, and subtle white peach, supported by distinctive flinty mineral notes and a touch of saline freshness. The finish is clean, precise, and refreshing.
A beautifully crafted expression of Chablis at an accessible price point. High drinkability now with potential to evolve over a few years. A superb pick for lovers of refined, unoaked Chardonnay with a strong sense of terroir.
Laroche Chablis comes from Chablis in northern Burgundy, one of the world’s most famous regions for mineral-driven Chardonnay. The vineyards sit on ancient Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in fossilised marine sediments, which contribute to the distinctive freshness and flinty character that Chablis is known for.
Made entirely from Chardonnay, the wine reflects the region’s cool climate and long growing season. These conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly, developing delicate fruit character while preserving the bright acidity that defines classic Chablis.
Domaine Laroche is one of Chablis’ most historic and respected producers, with winemaking roots dating back to the 9th century when monks first cultivated vineyards in the area. Today the estate is known for producing precise, terroir-driven wines that showcase the purity and mineral expression of the region.
A dry, light- to medium-bodied Chardonnay that emphasises freshness, clarity, and mineral structure rather than richness or oak influence. The wine feels crisp and energetic, with bright acidity that keeps it refreshing and very food-friendly.
Unlike richer styles of Chardonnay, Chablis is leaner and more focused, highlighting citrus, freshness, and subtle texture. This makes it particularly appealing for those who prefer whites that are clean and vibrant rather than creamy or buttery.
