Regular price £15.45

A crisp and mineral-driven Chablis with bright citrus, green apple, and classic flinty freshness. Precise, elegant, and perfectly sized for lighter occasions.

Founded in the mid-19th century, Domaine Laroche is a pioneering family-owned estate in Chablis, with vineyards held since 1850 and the first vintage produced around 1860. The estate, known for high-quality Chablis, made waves as the first French producer to adopt screwcap closures across its range in the 2000s, emphasizing freshness and consistency.

“Saint Martin” is the flagship Chablis cuvée, crafted from select plots across Laroche’s 60 hectares of Chablis appellation vineyards planted on Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in fossilized seashells

A beautifully crafted expression of Chablis: lively, mineral, elegant, and grounded in centuries of Burgundian tradition. A superb pick for lovers of refined, unoaked Chardonnay with a strong sense of terroir.

Description

Laroche Chablis comes from the Chablis region in northern Burgundy, where cool temperatures and Kimmeridgian limestone soils create some of the most distinctive Chardonnay wines in the world. These ancient marine soils, rich in fossilised oyster shells, are key to Chablis’ signature flinty, mineral character.

This wine is made entirely from Chardonnay and vinified in stainless steel to preserve purity and precision. The cool 2024 growing season allowed for steady ripening while retaining bright acidity, resulting in a wine that is both expressive and sharply defined.

Domaine Laroche, one of the most historic estates in Chablis, is known for its terroir-focused approach and clean, modern winemaking. Their style emphasises clarity, balance, and mineral expression, making this a classic benchmark example of the appellation.

Presented here in a half bottle (375ml), it offers the same quality and character in a more flexible format — ideal for single servings, lighter meals, or when a full bottle isn’t required.

Style

A dry, light- to medium-bodied Chardonnay that focuses on freshness, precision, and mineral structure rather than richness or oak. It’s crisp and linear in style, with bright acidity that keeps the wine lively and refreshing from start to finish.

Compared to fuller Chardonnay styles, this is much more about clarity and tension — clean, focused, and driven by citrus and mineral notes. The smaller bottle format also means the wine can show slightly more open and expressive aromatics earlier.

  • Appearance: Pale straw with bright green reflections.
  • Nose: Lemon, green apple, and pronounced flinty minerality.
  • Palate: Crisp citrus and orchard fruit with strong mineral definition.
  • Texture: Light to medium-bodied with high, refreshing acidity.
  • Finish: Clean, sharp, and distinctly mineral.
  • Overall Impression: A precise and authentic Chablis in a convenient half-bottle format — delivering freshness, mineral clarity, and classic Burgundian character in a refined, smaller serve.
  • Fresh Oysters – A classic match with Chablis’ saline minerality.
  • Grilled White Fish – Clean acidity enhances delicate flavours.
  • Goat’s Cheese – Tangy richness balances citrus freshness.
  • Sushi or Sashimi – Precision and freshness complement raw fish.
  • Light Seafood Starters – Ideal for lighter dishes and smaller portions.
  • Serve chilled at 10–12°C to highlight freshness and minerality.
  • No decanting required; serve directly and allow a few minutes in the glass.
  • Use a medium white wine glass to capture aromatics.
  • Best enjoyed young for its vibrancy, ideally within 3–5 years of vintage.
