Regular price £13.49

A bright and juicy French red with fresh red berries, soft tannins, and lively freshness. Smooth, vibrant, and effortlessly drinkable.

Crafted by one of Burgundy’s most respected and historic producers, Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages 2023 is a vibrant and expressive red made entirely from Gamay grapes grown on granite-rich soils in northern Beaujolais. The wine is vinified using traditional semi-carbonic maceration to highlight Gamay’s natural fruitiness and freshness, with no oak influence—allowing the purity of the grape and terroir to shine through.

In the glass, it delivers a bright bouquet of red cherry, raspberry, and fresh strawberry, with floral hints and a touch of mineral lift. Light to medium-bodied with smooth tannins and lively acidity, it offers a clean, juicy palate and a refreshingly crisp finish. Perfect served slightly chilled, this is a versatile red that pairs effortlessly with poultry, charcuterie, grilled vegetables, and lighter fare.

A classic example of fresh, approachable Beaujolais with pedigree - a wine of elegance, charm, and outstanding everyday drinkability.

Description

Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages 2023 is sourced from selected hillside vineyards across the northern part of the Beaujolais region, where granite and schist soils produce wines with greater intensity and structure than basic Beaujolais. The “Villages” designation reflects this step up in quality, with fruit coming from more favourable sites that deliver both ripeness and freshness.

The wine is made from Gamay, a grape that thrives in these granitic soils, producing wines with vibrant acidity, pure red fruit, and a naturally silky texture. In 2023, favourable growing conditions allowed for excellent fruit ripeness while preserving the freshness that defines the region, resulting in a wine that is both expressive and balanced.

Maison Louis Jadot applies a Burgundian level of precision to Beaujolais, using controlled fermentation and careful extraction to preserve aromatics while avoiding over-extraction. The result is a wine that maintains Gamay’s signature brightness while adding polish and consistency.

Style

A dry, light- to medium-bodied red that sits in the sweet spot between easy-drinking and structured. It has enough depth to feel like a “proper red wine,” but remains fresh, smooth, and highly approachable.

The tannins are soft and unobtrusive, while the acidity gives the wine a lively, refreshing edge. Compared to fuller reds, it feels lighter and more agile, making it ideal for both casual drinking and food pairing.
