Maison Sichel is a long-established Bordeaux wine merchant and producer, working throughout the region as a négociant-éleveur as well as owning and managing its own estates.
This particular 2023 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru has an interesting origin. The wine is sourced from declassified lots from prestigious Saint-Émilion châteaux — wine not ultimately incorporated into those estates' château-labelled blends but made from fruit originating within the appellation.
The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, a classic Right Bank combination. Merlot provides generous dark fruit and a rounded texture, while Cabernet Franc contributes aromatic lift, freshness and structure.
The result is an expressive Bordeaux combining youthful fruit with the depth and structure associated with Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.
