Overview & Distillery

Midleton Very Rare 2022 Vintage Release continues the legacy of Ireland’s most celebrated whiskey collection — a hallmark of excellence, craftsmanship, and balance. Created by Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman, this vintage follows the tradition established by Barry Crockett in 1984, uniting the finest aged Single Pot Still and Single Grain whiskeys from the historic Midleton Distillery.

Each component whiskey, aged between 12 and 33 years, is matured in lightly charred first-fill and refill American oak barrels, carefully selected for their ability to impart sweetness, complexity, and depth. Bottled at 40% ABV, the 2022 edition displays the signature Midleton refinement — creamy, smooth, and luxuriously balanced.

On the nose, it opens with rich aromas of orchard fruit, honey, and vanilla, complemented by floral notes and soft oak spice. The palate is elegant and layered, offering flavours of ripe pear, mango, caramel, and hazelnut intertwined with toasted wood and warming spice. The finish is long and graceful, leaving a lingering sweetness that defines Midleton’s renowned house style.

Produced at the world-famous Midleton Distillery in County Cork, the Midleton Very Rare series represents the pinnacle of Irish whiskey-making. Founded in 1825, the distillery has long been the home of Irish Distillers, responsible for crafting some of Ireland’s most iconic brands — including Jameson, Powers, and Redbreast — alongside its crown jewel, Midleton Very Rare.

The Midleton Very Rare Collection is released annually in limited quantities, with each vintage individually numbered and signed by the Master Distiller. It showcases the finest whiskey stocks in Midleton’s warehouses, chosen for their perfect balance of age, character, and elegance.
