Description

Pipoli Bianco Basilicata IGT comes from the rugged and volcanic soils of Basilicata in southern Italy. A region of mountains, ancient vineyards, and Mediterranean influence, Basilicata is increasingly recognised for its distinctive wines that reflect both altitude and volcanic terroir.

This white is typically crafted from indigenous Italian varieties suited to the area’s varied microclimates - often Malvasia Bianca, Greco, and/or Fiano - each contributing aromatic intensity, texture, and ripe fruit character. The volcanic soils lend mineral tension, while the cool nights preserve acidity and freshness.

Pipoli is produced by an estate deeply engaged in expressing regional authenticity and balance, capturing both the Mediterranean brightness and dynamic minerality of Basilicata’s vineyards.

Style

A dry white with citrus freshness, floral aromatics, and lively acidity supported by subtle mineral character from Basilicata’s volcanic soils. It feels fresher and more energetic than many warm-climate Italian whites.

In simple terms: a crisp southern Italian white — aromatic, refreshing, and excellent for seafood, salads, and lighter Mediterranean dishes.

  • Appearance: Pale straw yellow with bright clarity and light green reflections.
  • Nose: Fresh and aromatic with notes of lemon zest, green apple, white peach, and delicate white blossom, layered over subtle mineral hints.
  • Palate: Crisp and lively, showing citrus and orchard fruit balanced by gentle saline and herbal nuances.
  • Texture: Light to medium-bodied with refreshing acidity and a smooth, clean mouthfeel.
  • Finish: Bright and persistent, with lingering citrus and a refined mineral edge.
  • Overall Impression: A vibrant and terroir-driven white from Basilicata, combining Mediterranean freshness with subtle volcanic minerality.
  • Grilled Sea Bass or Bream – Bright acidity and mineral lift complement delicate fish and bring out natural salinity.
  • Seafood Pasta with Lemon & Olive Oil – Fresh citrus notes mirror the wine’s acidity and amplify aromatic layers.
  • Caprese or Fresh Summer Salads – Crisp acidity and orchard fruit interplay beautifully with fresh dairy and basil.
  • Lightly Spiced Fish Tacos – Vibrant fruit and brightness balance light spice and citrus garnish.
  • Goat’s Cheese or Burrata – Creamy textures harmonise with citrus and floral lift, enhancing overall freshness.
  • Serve well chilled at 8–10°C to accentuate its aromatic intensity and refreshing acidity.
  • No decanting is necessary - the expressiveness of this wine is best enjoyed directly from the bottle.
  • Use a white wine or tulip glass to concentrate the aromatics while maintaining a crisp profile.
