Overview & Distillery

Quinta do Vesúvio 2017 Vintage Port is a powerful, structured, and intensely concentrated example from one of the Douro’s greatest historic estates. Unlike LBV or Tawny, Vintage Port is bottled for long ageing, and the outstanding 2017 harvest delivered exceptional colour, purity and tannic backbone.

2017 was declared a Vintage year by many top houses—marked by small yields, exceptional ripeness and remarkable freshness. Vesúvio’s 2017 release shows dense black fruit, violets, spice and firm but polished tannins, built to improve for decades yet already showing seductive richness and purity.

Quinta do Vesúvio, founded in 1823, is one of the most iconic wine estates in the Upper Douro. Purchased by Symington Family Estates in 1989, the property produces exclusively Vintage Port and top-quality still reds.

Every harvest is done by hand, and foot-treading in granite lagares remains the traditional method — a hallmark that gives Vesúvio Vintage Ports their purity of fruit, refined tannins and deep structure.

Famed for elegance and longevity, Vesúvio is widely considered one of Portugal’s “Grand Cru” single-estate Vintage Ports.
