Sandeman Imperial Reserve Tawny Port
Sandeman Imperial Reserve Tawny is a smooth, amber-coloured Port aged for several years in seasoned oak casks, developing flavours of caramel, dried fruit, toasted nuts and warm spice. Bottled at around 20% ABV, it offers mellow sweetness, silky texture and classic tawny character.
Crafted by one of the world’s most historic Port houses, it is ready to drink, delicious lightly chilled and perfect with desserts, cheeses or relaxed after-dinner sipping - an approachable, elegant tawny from the iconic Sandeman cellar.
Sandeman Imperial Reserve Tawny is a smooth, elegant tawny Port balancing ripe fruit, caramel sweetness and gentle nutty oak. Longer ageing in small seasoned casks gives it a warm amber colour and a silky, mellow character, offering more complexity and refinement than basic tawny Port while remaining accessible and easy-drinking.
It carries classic tawny flavours of dried fruit, toffee, almond, spice and caramelised sugar, with good freshness and a soft, rounded finish. Perfect for everyday sipping, dessert pairing or relaxed entertaining, it can even be served lightly chilled as a warm-weather alternative to ruby Port.
Founded in 1790, Sandeman is one of the most famous and historic Port houses, instantly recognised by its iconic silhouette “The Don” — a caped, wide-brimmed figure symbolising the mystery and heritage of Iberian wine.
Sandeman sources fruit from the steep, schist-rich vineyards of the Douro Valley and matures tawny Ports slowly in Vila Nova de Gaia, where the cool coastal climate encourages steady, oxidative ageing. The Imperial Reserve expression is crafted to show Sandeman’s signature style: smooth, approachable tawny with subtle oak and caramel richness.
