Overview & Distillery

Elegant, bright, and deeply rooted in place, Shortcross Gin is Northern Ireland’s first premium craft gin, distilled by hand at the Rademon Estate Distillery in County Down. Created with a focus on quality, authenticity, and local flavour, it captures the essence of the surrounding countryside through the use of handpicked botanicals such as elderberries, apples, and wild clover.

Distilled in small copper pot stills from Irish wheat spirit, Shortcross Gin balances traditional juniper-led structure with vibrant citrus and floral freshness. Bottled at 46% ABV, it is full-bodied yet delicately aromatic — a refined, modern Irish gin that bridges classic style with contemporary craft.

Founded in 2012 by husband-and-wife team David and Fiona Boyd-Armstrong, Rademon Estate Distillery is located on one of Northern Ireland’s oldest estates, near Downpatrick. The distillery was established with the goal of creating spirits that reflect the land and its rich agricultural heritage.

All stages of production — from spirit distillation to bottling — take place on the estate. Many botanicals are foraged from the surrounding woodlands, including wild clover and elderberries, giving Shortcross Gin a distinctive sense of terroir and depth.

As Northern Ireland’s first craft gin distillery, Rademon Estate helped ignite the Irish gin renaissance, championing small-batch production, sustainability, and authenticity.
