Triennes St Auguste 2020 Magnum
A magnum-format version of this concentrated Provence red, with dark fruit, spice, and structured depth. Impressive on the table and excellent for slower bottle development.
The Triennes Saint Auguste 2020 Magnum is the prestige red of Domaine de Triennes, an estate founded in 1989 by two of Burgundy’s most legendary names: Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Their vision was to combine Burgundian craftsmanship and respect for terroir with the sun-soaked generosity of Provence. More than three decades later, that philosophy shines in Saint Auguste, the domaine’s flagship cuvée.
The 2020 vintage blends 65% Syrah and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested from organically farmed vineyards in the Var. Only the finest lots are selected for Saint Auguste, which undergoes long maceration and is aged for 12 months in seasoned French oak.
The magnum bottling lends this wine an added dimension of elegance, allowing it to evolve more slowly and gracefully over time. While delicious today with decanting, it has the structure and balance to age for 10–15+ years, developing further depth and complexity with cellaring.
Triennes Saint Auguste 2020 Magnum offers the same serious, premium Provençal red as the standard bottle, but in a format particularly attractive for entertaining and for slower, steadier ageing. Magnum matters with a wine like this because the combination of concentration, oak, and structure benefits from gradual development in bottle.
The wine itself remains built from the estate’s best Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot parcels, giving dark fruit, spice, and a properly structured frame. In magnum, the effect is amplified not stylistically, but practically: it becomes more impressive for dining, more age-worthy, and more suitable for larger tables or gifting.
This is an excellent large-format option for those who want something genuinely serious and unusual outside the usual Rhône or Bordeaux categories.
A dry, full-bodied red with concentrated fruit, oak polish, and strong tannic structure. The magnum format makes it especially suitable for cellaring and for presentation at larger meals.
