Viña Real forms part of CVNE, one of Rioja's historic wine producers. The Viña Real name dates to 1920 and has long been associated with wines produced from Rioja Alavesa fruit.
Its vineyards are centred around Laguardia and neighbouring areas, where elevated sites and predominantly calcareous soils contribute to the structure and ageing potential associated with the estate's wines.
The 2011 Viña Real Gran Reserva is a mature expression of Rioja, showing the complexity that develops through extended barrel and bottle ageing.
The wine was produced with long-term development in mind and is now at a stage where its mature character can be enjoyed while retaining further ageing potential.
