Quinta de la Rosa DouRosa 2023
A vibrant, estate-grown Douro red that captures the energy and character of Portugal’s dramatic river valley. Crafted from traditional Douro varieties, it combines ripe dark fruit with freshness and structure, offering immediate appeal while retaining classic regional identity.
Crafted by Quinta de la Rosa, an esteemed estate in the Alto Douro Valley with vineyards terraced on steep schist slopes and a legacy that dates back to its acquisition by the Bergqvist family in 1906.
The wine offers ripe red and dark fruit character supported by subtle spice and mineral notes from the schist soils. With moderate alcohol and fine tannins, it balances generous fruit with structure and freshness, making it an elegant, versatile red that typifies the region’s capacity for quality table wines.
Produced entirely from estate vineyards in the Douro Valley, DouRosa reflects the rugged schist soils and steep terraced slopes that define this historic region. The warm, dry climate of the Douro encourages full ripening, while altitude and river influence help preserve balance and aromatic lift.
The wine is made from a traditional field blend of indigenous varieties - typically including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Sousão - which together provide depth, floral character, structure, and colour intensity.
Quinta de la Rosa is a family-owned estate based in Pinhão, with winemaking led by a philosophy of expressing vineyard character with restraint and precision. Unlike heavily extracted or overly oaked styles sometimes associated with the region, DouRosa is crafted to emphasise freshness, purity of fruit, and drinkability while remaining unmistakably Douro in profile.
A dry Douro red with dark fruit, spice, and polished tannins. Unlike heavier traditional Douro wines, it emphasises freshness and elegance alongside richness.
